Overview
MemberPress Downloads fits WordPress sites that need a controlled library of PDFs, images, audio, video, ZIP archives, or other member resources without managing a separate file-delivery system. Files are created from an MP Downloads area, assigned their own URLs, and connected to MemberPress Rules so access can be based on an individual file, file category, or file tag. This makes the add-on useful for membership libraries, course resources, gated templates, and downloadable reference material. The workflow is still tied to the wider MemberPress installation: the documentation lists the add-on for Growth and Scale plans, and course-resource use requires MemberPress Courses as well. Site owners should also account for the documented need to exclude /mpdl from caching, test download limits and redirects with real member roles, and verify how their theme and browser handle PDFs, images, media, and large files on staging. Bulk uploading is not supported in the documented workflow, so large libraries may require a more deliberate migration process.

Compatibility and setup context
- Requires the MemberPress plugin and an eligible MemberPress Growth or Scale plan; the documentation says the add-on is not available on the Launch plan.
- MemberPress Courses can use Downloads files as course resources, but both the Courses and Downloads add-ons must be installed.
- Sites using a caching plugin or caching service should exclude the /mpdl path from caching.
- The Gutenberg block is available for sites using the WordPress block editor.
- The force-view option is documented for PDFs and images only; test other media types separately.
- Bulk uploading is not supported in the documented interface, so owners of large file libraries should plan staged uploads or another migration workflow.
