WooCommerce Product Addons

Overview

This extension is designed for stores where one base product needs customer-provided details or optional upgrades. Administrators can create add-on groups globally, limit them by product category, or configure options on individual product records. Supported inputs include multiple-choice selections, checkboxes, short and long text, file uploads, customer-defined prices, quantities, headings, and dates. Pricing can be free, flat-rate, quantity-based, percentage-based, or negative when a discount is appropriate.\n\nThe main operational limitation is that add-ons remain attached to the parent product rather than becoming separately managed products: they do not receive their own SKUs or inventory tracking. Add-ons on variable products are inherited by all variations, so stores needing different options for each variation should test the catalog design before purchase. The extension also does not provide conditional show/hide logic according to WooCommerce’s product page guidance; a more advanced product-options tool may be a better fit for that workflow. Test cart, checkout, order emails, file handling, tax behavior, theme styling, and any payment or subscription flow on staging before deploying.

Compatibility and setup context

• Requires a WooCommerce store because the extension adds configuration fields to WooCommerce products.
• The official product page documents support for WooCommerce Subscriptions when purchased separately, including recurring add-on pricing.
• The documentation states that Product Add-Ons works with Smart Coupons, including its gift-card feature, from Smart Coupons 2.9.0.
• WooCommerce Bookings can use add-ons for bookable products, similarly to standard product types.
• Variable products inherit their add-ons across variations; separate add-ons per variation are not supported.
• Add-ons are not individual inventory-managed products and do not receive separate SKUs.
