Yoast SEO Premium

Overview

Yoast SEO Premium is a paid WordPress extension that builds on the free Yoast SEO plugin rather than functioning as a completely separate SEO system. Its practical value is concentrated in editorial workflow: writers can receive SEO, readability, and inclusive-language guidance while working, use AI to draft titles and meta descriptions, and review internal-linking suggestions. Site administrators also get tools for redirects, crawl controls, social previews, structured data, and broader content maintenance. The plugin includes more schema coverage and AI-oriented controls than the free edition, including a bot blocker and schema aggregation features. Setup requires the Premium plugin alongside Yoast SEO, a MyYoast account or customer portal connection, and a server able to communicate with Yoast for subscription verification. Because the plugin interacts with the block editor, themes, other plugins, and external integrations, verify editor behavior, redirects, generated metadata, and activation on a staging copy before deploying it to a production site. The WordPress.org listing currently identifies version 28.3, with WordPress 6.9 or later and PHP 7.4 or later listed as requirements.

Compatibility and setup context

• Requires the free Yoast SEO plugin as the foundation for the Premium extension and is installed through the Yoast product/customer portal workflow.
• The current WordPress.org listing specifies WordPress 6.9 or newer, tested through WordPress 7.1, and PHP 7.4 or newer.
• Subscription activation depends on the site being connected to MyYoast and the hosting environment permitting cURL-based communication with Yoast.
• The plugin integrates with the WordPress block editor and can also work with supported builders and third-party services; test theme, builder, and plugin interactions on staging.
• Confirm the live versions of WordPress, PHP, Yoast SEO, Yoast SEO Premium, and connected integrations before updating a production site.
