Overview
Nested Forms is designed for structured repeatable data rather than a simple collection of duplicated fields. A site owner creates a parent form and a separate child form, then connects them through a Nested Form field. Visitors can add child entries through a modal interface, review the selected summary fields, and edit or remove entries before completing the parent submission.
Create parent forms that collect multiple related child entries from a separate Gravity Forms form.
Display selected child-entry fields in a summary table on the parent form.
Allow users to add, edit, and delete child entries from the frontend.
Set minimum and maximum entry limits for a Nested Form field.
Use child-entry counts, totals, sums, and value sets in parent-form calculations.
Process child-form feeds when the parent is submitted, with an advanced option for processing feeds when the child form is submitted.
Customize frontend and backend output by copying Nested Forms templates into a theme.
Export child entries together with parent-entry data through Gravity Forms entry exports.
Compatibility and setup context
- Requires Gravity Forms; Gravity Perks documentation states that the Spellbook platform requires WordPress 5.0 or newer and Gravity Forms 2.8 or newer.
- Installation and management are handled through the Spellbook platform rather than a standalone WordPress.org plugin workflow.
- Nested Forms cannot be placed inside another Nested Form field.
- Child forms loaded through a Nested Form field are not compatible with Gravity Forms Save and Continue or GP Advanced Save and Continue.
- Payment feeds are not processed on child forms; payment-related workflows should be tested using the parent-form configuration.
- If a parent entry is trashed, its child entries are also trashed by default.
